1999 Seattle WTO Protest - The Human Experience
Raw Footage Interactive Documentary
Take a Walk with Those of us That were Really there.
This is almost 24 hours of raw footage of the WTO Protests in Seattle, organized by day and street intersection.
This is my own footage and other people's too. If you weren't there, you don't know what really happened because the media botched it up and most of the documentaries focused on one thing - conflict. It's not cut up and served back to you with exciting music to make you think what I want you to think.
The event was so huge that no one person really can know what happened because you can only be in one place at a time. The Seattle WTO protests were a mind-blowing, life-changing explosion of culture, beautiful human expression, cross-organizational collaboration and deep education to all involved.
Along with that came betrayal from the powers that be and a few activists who broke their agreements to the other groups.
Determination was set. Issues were being discussed in tribunals, teachins and rallies all across town for a week and the full range of emotions were palpable on the streets.
The WTO Protests were not a battle. They were a time of effective and creative resistance to a system that is destroying most things that are good in this world. They were certainly not a riot, unless you want to call what the police did a riot.
So, have fun. Take your time. Listen to the sounds of the day. You are making your own documentary as you choose which clips interest you and wander through the streets as we did, totally amazed.
